How Tip Percentage Is Calculated

The tip amount is simply the bill total multiplied by the tip percentage. For an equal split, this combined bill-plus-tip total is then divided evenly by the number of people. For an uneven split, each person's individual bill amount is used to calculate their own proportional tip, and their final share is their bill amount plus their calculated tip.
